Re: Employment Opportunities

To whom it may concern,

I am interested in part-time, or project based employment opportunities in the energy engineering industry or interaction design. I am willing to travel for project work. My areas of expertise are solar and wind energy, energy storage systems, and software interface design.

I have recently finished a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Sustainable Energy Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. [www.KTH.se] My studies have covered traditional and modern power generation technologies, including fuel combustion, turbomachinery, renewable energy technologies, hydrogen generation, storage, and use, grid operations and energy storage systems. My Master’s Thesis project is on Energy Storage Systems for Large Offshore Wind Farms.

Recent projects I have worked on include being a project leader on a comprehensive analysis of a coal fuelled combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Warsaw, Poland. My focus was on the benefits of adding a hot water accumulator to increase the efficiency of selling energy to the district heating system. The project was sponsored by Vattenfall and was part of a project course at KTH.

I recently spent time at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland, working at the department of mechanical engineering developing a software calculations tool for turbomachinery calculations, this software will be part of the computerized educational platform at the KTH department of Heat and Power.

Before moving into energy engineering, I worked in industrial design and interactive technology. As a design professional, I dealt with:

Design and Engineering
I have combined effective design with appropriate technologies to build solutions that are well designed and work well.

Project Management
I’ve been a creative leader on several large projects with budgets up to US$5,000,000 and we always followed through, often exceeding expectations. Workflow and schedules are an integral part of any project and I use them to my advantage.

Client Communication
I have turned many project leads into signed deals and then finished projects. I can approach things from many perspectives to manage expectations and describe the process and approach of a project.

I would add that I am flexible, and can fill in gaps where resources are needed.

I will be moving to the SF Bay area at the end of January 2005, and would like to start work right away. I can do a phone interview at any time. The best way to reach me is via email at
